House Properties purchased the building and partnered with an experienced restauranteur to finance, design and build Wayfare Tavern. Located in the Rubicon Building, Wayfare Tavern has a premium location in San Francisco’s Financial District. The restaurant is well positioned to take advantage of the business, tourist and local clientele.

Wayfare Tavern is a rustic but elegant gathering place, rich with history and tradition. The first floor features an open kitchen and impressive fireplace built from bricks salvaged after the Earthquake and Great Fire of 1906. All three levels, including the two private dining rooms, are floored with wood sourced from a turn of the century barn. Other touches nod to the Barbary Coast era and the building’s own long history. Wayfare’s menu changes as local ingredients come in and out of season. Offerings represent an innovative approach to familiar American Classics. With lighter selections such as seasonal salads and a large raw bar, as well as comfort food classics, menus are well suited for various occasions and tastes. Wayfare Tavern is a true gathering place for events of all types. Several options are offered to accommodate intimate family dinners, weddings and receptions, corporate events, social gatherings, and full restaurant buy outs. Wayfare Tavern is also a meeting place for the community. Many private and public events are hosted that encourage discussion and shared experiences over great food and libations.

Wayfare Tavern’s menu is inspired by partner and executive chef Food Network star Tyler Florence.
